Our client is a medium sized accountancy practice in York, who is dedicated to understanding their clients and providing the clarity needed to thrive as a small or medium sized business. They believe in delivering business advice in plain English, making it easier for clients to understand their financial landscape and make informed decisions.

Their goal is to change the perception of accountants, creating a collaborative relationship with clients which is dedicated to supporting SMEs. Whether it’s managing accounts, tax planning, VAT, or payroll services, they approach each task with a relaxed yet professional attitude, ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way.

Due to their medium-term plans for a management buy-out, our client is looking to appoint an energetic Senor Accountant who is ready to break the norm and push the boundaries of modern accountancy. Working as part of a small senior management team, you will have the autonomy to develop your own portfolio of clients while integrating modern systems and processes across the business.

What it’s like working for our client:

You’ll start your week with a coffee and a catch-up with the team in the office. This informal meeting sets a positive tone, allowing everyone to share updates, discuss priorities, and align on client needs.

Spend your days either in the office or onsite holding face-to-face client meetings, providing support and mentorship to a small accounts team, as well as delivering a small portfolio of your own client work.

This setup allows you to focus on preparing accounts for your relatively small client base, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. While working in the office, you’ll support team members with more complex queries and provide mentorship to junior staff, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

As the week wraps up, you’ll return to the office to help implement systems and processes as our client transitions to a fully cloud-based accountancy practice. Your insights will be crucial in shaping these changes, ensuring the team is equipped for a modern approach to accounting.

Throughout the week, you’ll realistically spend four days in the office to be present and support the wider team, while also having the flexibility to work from home when needed. This full-time role is designed for those who thrive on collaboration and are eager to make a tangible impact in a growing practice.
