We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced aerodynamicist to join our Aerodynamics department here at Williams Racing in Grove, Oxfordshire. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career and utilise their experience to impact the performance of Williams future F1 race cars. Working within the aerodynamic group, you will demonstrate your understanding of the race car aerodynamics across all environments (CFD, Wind Tunnel (WT) and track) in order to optimise the development approach and maximise the longer-term aerodynamic performance of the race car. As Senior Aerodynamicist, you will:
Develop innovative and forward-thinking aerodynamic concepts, using appropriate tools and technologies to create and deliver your vision to testing. Mentor junior aerodynamicists, advising on how they can develop and improve their skills and produced work. Identify opportunities for process improvement within the aerodynamics department. Work within your team to identify tools and technologies needed to increase development rate. Assist in the planning and executing Wind Tunnel runs, working to ensure maximum accuracy and efficiency. Analyse and report on CFD & Wind Tunnel results to establish robust aerodynamic solutions and recommendations. Create and maintain positive relationships across the department and wider Williams team through clear communication and sharing of information. Our ideal Aerodynamicist will have the following:
Experience working within aerodynamics in a Formula 1 team. Experience with CFD and Wind Tunnel techniques. Advanced understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals. Skilled in using CAD & CFD software. Ability to drive outcomes under strict deadlines using problem solving skills. Demonstrable experience in understanding the bigger picture (e.g. in-depth analysis of results, correlation investigations, novel use of data, non-standard models/tests). Strong influential ability to get buy-in and drive collaboration across the departments. Willingness to challenge current methods and theories. Additional Information
