Are you ready to take your skills to the next level and make a real impact in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment? At Pets at Home, we’re on the lookout for a Senior App Developer to join our growing team and help us shape the future of pet care technology.

As a Senior Application Developer, you’ll bring technical expertise to our dynamic Application Development Team, with a focus on designing and developing Android applications. You’ll play a key role in mentoring and guiding junior and mid-level developers while also contributing to technology roadmaps and evolving our agile development lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Conducting ongoing reviews of deployed application code, identifying areas where technical debt is present and promoting necessary corrective work streams.

Providing support and guidance to less experienced members of the development team, helping them to solve complex issues within the software they are developing.

Helping other team members grow and improve their technical knowledge by providing guidance and sharing knowledge.

Actively participating in the design and development of application solutions to business problems, particularly the larger and more complex development pieces.

Producing appropriate design documentation and clean, efficient software implementations.

Where appropriate, producing reusable components and services which can be used to develop further applications more efficiently.

Understanding trends in Application Development technology and making appropriate recommendations for the Application technology roadmap within Pets at Home.

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in Android Software Development and an in-depth understanding of the Android ecosystem.

Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and software/project lifecycles.

Hands-on experience developing Android features with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (experience with Gradle is a plus!).

A customer-focused mindset, with a passion for delivering great user experiences.

Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services like Azure DevOps.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
