Job overview This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and dynamic Senior Applied Psychologist who enjoys working collaboratively with other multi-agency partners to support the mental health needs of children, young people, and their families. We have a full-time vacancy in our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Walsall team.

Main duties of the job The ideal candidate will be:

Passionate about working with children and young people in our community CAMH services.

Collaborative in their approach to working with children, young people, their families/carers, and networks.

Excited about contributing to service developments.

Keen to maximize what psychologists can deliver while recognizing the strengths of the multi-disciplinary team.

Able to consider providing child specialty placements to local Doctorate Psychology Courses.

Working for our organisation We value a supportive and reflective culture in our work environment. The team is one of four CAMHS teams in the Trust, comprising a broad spectrum of disciplines and a tradition of effective multidisciplinary and interagency working.

The service offers direct therapeutic work, including individual therapy, group work, and parent workshops, as well as consultation and training to professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Duties of the post are varied and focus on the diversity of skills that Applied Psychologists hold.

Accountable for professional practice in delivering highly specialist psychological care to children, young people, and their families with complex mental health difficulties.

Compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers, and families.

Promote a positive image of mental health difficulties and the service.

Exercise supervisory/professional responsibility for other psychological therapists.

Provide leadership in multi-disciplinary training and development.

Provide leadership in service audit, evaluation, and research.

Ensure a psychological perspective in service redesign and cultural change.

Person specification

Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology as accredited by the BPS.

HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.

Experience as a qualified applied psychologist within a CAMHS service.

Knowledge of clinical governance and risk assessment.

Post-doctoral training in additional specialized areas of psychological practice.

Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary, and private sector agencies.
