Key Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of our Water Resources Team include providing technical support for regulatory aspects of Abstraction Licences. In this role, you will liaise with the Environment Agency regarding abstractions return, site inspections, and WINEP Investigations. You will also collaborate with colleagues across the Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery Department, particularly with the Operational and Production team on matters related to abstraction returns, source performance, and supply-demand balance. We will have a very intensive Abstraction Impact Assessment WINEP programme in AMP8. The Senior Asset Scientist role will be crucial to ensure the timely delivery of the programme by supporting the programme manager with project management and liaising with our framework consultants. As part of this, you will support the Asset Scientist with cost reports and change requests, ensuring that projects are delivered on budget or escalating issues to the Programme Manager. For this role, you will also be required to undertake a combination of fieldwork and office work related to the implementation of the AMP8 WINEP investigations, liaising with subcontractors and taking responsibility for the full monitoring process in accordance with health and safety requirements. You will collect, review, and QA monitoring data and ensure it is uploaded to our data management system. Additionally, you will conduct data analysis and interpretation and communicate the findings both internally and to external stakeholders (Environment Agency, river groups, and consultants), including managing the exchange of data with our environmental regulators, particularly ecological data. These activities are part of the statutory Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) requirements and provide intelligence on our catchments to support and guide our future water resource strategies. Requirements: Qualified to BSc level (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline, with practical knowledge in hydrogeology, hydrology, or aquatic ecology. Project Management qualification. Highly motivated self-starter, able to work independently as well as part of a team. Awareness of health and safety procedures. Understanding of water quality and environmental standards. Good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce high-quality and accurate work. Willingness to undertake fieldwork; a Full, clean driving licence will be required.
