We are seeking an experienced airport sustainability specialist to join our team and help our clients transition towards a more sustainable future. At Ricardo, we are a global strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting company dedicated to helping our clients address complex challenges and work toward a sustainable future. We work with airports, airlines, ground handlers, and aircraft manufacturers to develop strategies to minimise their environmental impact and then help implement those strategies. Given the significant changes taking place within the aviation sector, your role will be crucial in supporting our clients in navigating their sustainability challenges. We would love to hear from you if you have the following competencies and experience: An understanding of the airport sector and the sustainability challenges facing the aviation sector. Proven experience as a sustainability consultant with a focus on net zero initiatives in the aviation sector, and a track record of successfully guiding organisations towards achieving sustainability goals. Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Expertise across several of the following technical areas: Net zero strategy development. Energy and carbon management planning and strategy. Scope 3. Carbon footprinting and verification. Energy auditing and identification of energy saving and decarbonisation measures. Regulatory compliance, knowledge of both current and future environmental and energy related legislation. Experience of working on international projects and a willingness to support international projects is desirable, including our priority regions of Europe, Middle East, North America, and Asia. You need to have the following skills and behaviours: Excellent data handling and analytical skills with the ability to identify, develop and implement solutions. Excellent writing skills to communicate clearly and without errors – accuracy and attention to detail are vital. Good stakeholder communication skills (e.g. influencing, presentation and relationship management skills). Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to manage and account for time spent, and to deliver work on time and budget. Team working and ability to coordinate and prioritise activities to ensure delivery of agreed targets. A flexible approach – able to see where help is needed and support colleagues as necessary. Your main responsibilities would be: Managing and delivering net zero, and energy and carbon management projects. This will include collecting, analysing and interpreting sustainability-related data, conducting assessments of carbon footprints, energy consumption, and emission sources to inform the development of effective net zero strategies, and identifying and implementing innovative carbon reduction initiatives. Delivering a project management role, controlling budgets and timings, and allocating tasks to colleagues as required. Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for airport leadership and external stakeholders. Supporting the preparation of proposals covering net zero, carbon management and supply chain and scope 3 emissions bids. Supporting clients with compliance with relevant sustainability standards. Fostering strong relationships with airport management, staff, airlines, and local communities to garner support and commitment to their net zero journey. Staying at the forefront of sustainable aviation practices, industry trends and emerging technologies, and sharing knowledge and insights with the team and clients.
