The Role

Senior Backend Engineers are responsible for building the core data-flows of Kitman Labs products. They do this with a focus on security, privacy, robustness and performance. The backend engineering team builds APIs and data processing pipelines that handle massive amounts of data from sports teams all over the globe. In conjunction with our Data Science team they build and maintain data models which embody the cutting edge of injury risk prevention technology. We’re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products. You’ll be happy dealing with systems that involve many moving pieces. New technologies or approaches to solving problems don’t bother you. You are detail oriented but also pragmatic and considered in where you spend time and effort. We will expect you to

Design, build, and maintain APIs, services and data-stores. Possess a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain high standards of software quality, including effective QA processes, writing high-quality code, following best practices, and adhering to established industry standards. Ensure cross team collaboration by working with our frontend engineers to build features that users love to use. Work with our product team to reliably spec out and refine user stories, enabling them to be broken down and quickly delivered to production. Confidently debug complex production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack. Be focused and able to prioritize tasks and not get distracted by unimportant details. Set direction from a technical architecture point of view on projects and make pragmatic decisions if projects need to be redirected or scaled back. Experience and skills we look for

Experience building APIs or as part of a team building dynamic web applications. Have shown an ability to take on new technologies and languages. We work mostly in Ruby but this isn’t a prerequisite, we’re more interested in your ability to learn. Hold yourself and others to a high bar. Take pride in working on projects through to a successful completion. Recognise the value of standardised, fully tested code that is delivered in a CI/CD environment. Additional skills that would be beneficial

We heavily utilise Amazon Web Services so experience with AWS or similar is a bonus. Experience working with AI tools. Knowledge of machine learning models. Benefits
