Aardvark Swift are supporting a multi-award winning studio who are on the lookout for an experienced Engineer with a background in DevOps, Automation or Build Programming to join their team as a Senior Build Engineer.

The studio is looking for a communicative and adaptive individual to shape the future of studio-wide support for their game project and tools teams. You’ll take a key role in project development infrastructure and support. The studio’s current technologies include Plastic SCM, Jenkins, Docker, Google Cloud, and Unity used for automation pipelines for game code, assets, and web-based services.

Please note, this is a remote role, with no relocation support available at the present time, you should therefore reside within either the UK or a country within Europe and hold the right to work in that country.

Your responsibilities… Design and develop project and studio-wide support processes considering the requirements of multiple teams.

Partake in discussions with stakeholders and management around requirements of the studio regarding product, process and technology.

Design, build, and maintain infrastructure for game development, including build systems, testing, automation, profiling and deployment for multiple concurrent projects.

Be an administrator of version control platforms and assist in managing appropriate branches, merging and permissions.

Work closely with the System Administration Group, Infosec Group, and Engineering Groups, mutually supporting their needs and getting support for the needs of the DevOps Group.

Work with the Head of Engineering on plans to expand the DevOps Group and assist in hiring for future roles.

Work flexibly with existing pipelines whilst exploring avenues for future improvements.

Advise on best practices and new developments in the field of DevOps.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role… Experience of working within a games studio.

3 or more years professional programming experience.

Strong communication and advocacy skills, for audiences within and outside of engineering.

Strong experience in CI/CD, IaC, testing, profiling and automation.

Experience with source control managers, automation servers, and cloud-based computing.

Fluent in scripting languages, such as Groovy, Python, PowerShell, Bash.

An appreciation of process optimization.

Experience in Unix-based, Mac, and Windows operating systems and their administration.

Comfortable working remotely.

Bonus points if you have… Experience with GCS, Jenkins, Unity.

An understanding and appreciation of the process of making video games.
