An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Building Control Officer.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

You will assist in the line management of one of the Building Control teams within the County Durham area assisting in the effective delivery of the statutory processes. In doing so, you will, under the guidance of the Building Control Team Leader, provide advice and guidance to a team of officers to ensure the effective daily allocation of workloads, in relation to all members of the Building Control team.

In addition, you will carry a caseload of more complex building duties including those matters relating to complex commercial developments.

You will assist the Building Control Team Leader in the compilation of accurate performance data for the service.

You will also be responsible for assisting the Building Control Team Leader in engaging customers, including the general public, communities, applicants, stakeholders and the development industry in the interests of promoting the Building Control service.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need to have a HND or equivalent in a building related subject and be Level 2 BSR registered.

You will have relevant experience in dealing with Dangerous Structures and associated legislation and should have significant experience in dealing with large and complex Building Control Projects.

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
