Hello there. We’re Zopa. Early in 2023 Zopa Bank acquired DivideBuy, a market leading point of sale finance platform. Now part of Zopa Group, the offering will combine technology and fintech innovation to enable instant decisions and fully integrated consumer journeys with consumer protection, credit checks and safeguards of a regulated bank. We're on a step-change growth trajectory. Alongside our best-in-class POS tech solution we have the scale, trust, and market-leading credit capabilities of one of the UK’s top consumer lenders. We are uniquely positioned in the market with rapid growth and bold ambitions for the next three years where this role will be pivotal in spearheading our growth. Join us as we embark on this new chapter, harnessing the strengths of both Zopa and DivideBuy to create cutting-edge financial solutions that truly benefit our customers. This team operates within the Commercial division of the POS Tribe and follows a functional working style. Their primary responsibility is to develop, nurture, and onboard new partnerships valued at £50-£75 million over the next two years with a total team target of over £350m over 2 years. A day in the life:

This is a hunter role, in the role you are going to be cold calling or emailing people you have maybe not spoken to before. Daily outbound calls to merchants (these can be retail businesses, dental or veterinary practices amongst others). Working with a market-leading retail point-of-sale finance solution to corporate and commercial accounts. Collaborating with the Marketing team to generate leads, with 70% coming from your own insights and the rest through a collaborative approach. Engaging with a range of roles, including Finance Director, Managing Director, IT Director, and others to identify the right person to win. Aiming to win new clients that meet the objectives of the business area, driving good £ Volume and having low bad debt (customers not paying or fraud). Regularly meeting new opportunities alongside peers and managers. Participating in the development and roadmap of new products that will take Zopa ahead of the competition. About you:

As the Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM), you will report to the Head of Business Development, who is part of the POS commercial leadership team. Experience as a hunter in previous roles, able to initiate conversations with potential clients or re-engage with discussions that have gone cold. Responsible for generating a minimum of 70% of your own new business leads, including existing opportunities in our Salesforce that are currently unassigned. Familiarity with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, is essential, along with an understanding of the importance of timely and accurate data input. Awareness of how your role will function within a regulated environment, particularly in consumer finance, including areas like Consumer Finance, Personal Loans, and Motor Finance. Prior experience in the Point of Sale Finance sector, fixed-term loans or revolving credit is an advantage. Bonus points for:

Experience in a regulated environment is a must; however, being from an existing provider of a like-for-like offer is not essential but a nice to have. Please note that this role will require travel to our Newcastle-Under-Lyme office, as well as client visits across the UK. #LI-LK1 Flexible working? Yes please! At Zopa we value flexible ways of working. We understand the benefits of face-to-face collaboration and the importance of a good work-life balance. Our teams work in a hybrid manner, from our vibrant UK offices and the comfort of their own homes, at a frequency that suits the team and the work they do. Not only that – you'll also have the option of working from abroad for up to 120 days a year!* But no matter where you are, we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need to thrive, both in your work and home life, from day one. *Subject to having the right to work in the country of choice Diversity Statement Zopa is proud to offer a workplace free from discrimination. Diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds leads to better products for our customers and a unique company culture for our people. We are made up of nearly 50 nationalities, have a DE&I forum made up of Zopians wanting to make a difference and we are proud of our culture where everyone can bring their full self to work.
