Environmental Consultant

with demonstrable commercial or consultancy-based experience in the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions calculation and reporting, compliance, target setting, and the development of Net Zero Carbon strategies to work alongside our experienced team of consultants. The Role Working with the Carbon and Energy Management team, part of SLR’s Corporate Sustainability service line, you will support the team in delivering best-in-class projects in greenhouse gas accounting and related services across our established client base in industrial, commercial, and public sectors. The team is based in Manchester, though we will consider alternative locations including London, Edinburgh, and Bristol or hybrid working for the right candidates. Examples of Projects: Greenhouse gas calculations and reporting of Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions in accordance with the methodologies of the GHG Protocol. Calculations and reporting to support our client in accordance with Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) guidelines. Supporting clients in the preparation of submissions to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Development of Net Zero Carbon strategies. Development of corporate sustainability/ESG strategies. Supporting clients in the development of targets in accordance with the methodology set out by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). About You If you think this could be the right role for you, we would love to hear from you. We envisage that you will be able to demonstrate: Qualified to degree-level or higher, within a relevant environmental science-based subject. Proven experience in a consultancy role or as an in-house Sustainability Manager, or similar. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team. Track record in managing multiple complex projects, including client management, quality assurance, and project administration. Effective communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Desirable Qualifications: Exposure to business development, including client management, proposal, and bid writing. Full driving licence. We are ideally looking for a consultant to be located in SLR’s Manchester office, although other locations will be considered, including London, Bristol, or Edinburgh.
