Our wonderful care village offers those who choose it a peaceful haven, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but with a wide range of activities and supportive services, and all delivered with TLC within this beautiful retirement community. Residents can enjoy a wide and varied social life, both on site and beyond, offering independence when they crave it, but support when they need it. We have 24 close care bungalows already in situ, and with homecare provided for those who require it. We have our CQC registration and are now doing pre-admission assessments. Provence House is a brand new, purpose-built care home for 72 people across three, ground-floor spaces,

constructed to the highest specifications, and with all the latest conveniences for both residents AND staff.

We are constantly expanding as occupancy grows following our opening in March, and so we are looking to augment our team. Summary of Role The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality personal care for older people or people with care needs, but also to oversee and be responsible for the smooth running of a small team of care assistants. They will also be responsible for the administration of any required medications, and liaising frequently with the care manager when required. The post holder needs to be flexible, responsive to change, and also able to oversee delivery and delegation of tasks to others in their team. The role involves working flexibly over 7 days, will involve some weekend work, though this will be shared out fairly and evenly across the staff team on an ongoing basis. Main Responsibilities Oversee and ensure that high levels of care are delivered when assisting (when needed) residents with all aspects of including physical, social and emotional needs; Closely monitor residents for whom additional attention may be required; Promote residents’ continence as much as possible, through offering proactive assistance to the toilet; Support the care manager in the overseeing of training and supervision sessions with new members of staff, and refresher training thereof; Liaise with healthcare professionals as and when necessary to ensure the wellbeing of residents; Answer the nurse call system when required to do so, and also to monitor the answering by care staff to ensure residents are attended to as quickly as possible; Assist or take charge of the ordering, storage and administration of medications for the residents under their charge; Greet and attend to residents’ visitors as and where appropriate. This includes keeping family and those with PoA updated with health concerns, appointments to the hospital, etc; Complete regular, detailed resident care / support plan reviews; Monitor residents’ bedrooms to ensure that they are clean and tidy, including beds made, curtains drawn and washing taken away; Conduct, when necessary, regular wellbeing checks of residents. Personal Characteristics - Requirements: Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we look after; Clear written and verbal communication style; Basic IT skills and numerical ability; To be willing to undertake required training, sometimes outside normal working hours; To be available for flexible working patterns including weekends; At least one year’s previous experience of being a Senior Care Assistant. Personal Characteristics - Preferable: Experience of supporting people or of working in a social care setting; Social care qualification (NVQ Level 3, or be working towards it).
