The operation is a huge single space kitchen serving two dining rooms: one student dining hot buffet style canteen service, and one high street style coffee shop. Are you prepared to:
Be the first point of contact for Thurrock campus catering.
Deliver a 2-week cycle menu in student dining and oversee food quality and delivery for both catering outlets.
Oversee all hospitality delivery at Thurrock campus.
Support catering management out of term with hospitality delivery across the college group as needed (travel expenses paid).
Work customer-facing, such as serving and till operation, as well as cooking back of house.
Be hands-on with cleaning and maintaining excellent hygiene standards.
Do you have:
Experience working as a chef within contract catering, restaurant, hotel, pub environment, or similar.
Good knowledge of HACCP and food safety management to maintain an elite 5-star EHO rating.
Good understanding of performance management and employee appraisal, engaging a great team.
Good knowledge of food production, menu development, and presentation.
Good understanding of stock control and ordering.
Good understanding of profit and loss.
UK driving licence and have use of own vehicle.
Willingness, if not already trained, to learn barista skills.
Working hours:
Monday - Friday (typical pattern, but subject to change)
7.30 - 16.30 - Mon - Fri
11.00 - 14.00 - Fri or 1 on 1 off 8:30 - 14:30
Desirable qualifications (but not essential):
Experience in an education setting
Level 3 Food Safety
Level 3 HACCP
Level 2/3 catering qualification
This job will be based in our Thurrock campus but there may be a requirement to travel around the college group ad hoc.
