Senior Civil Design Engineer - Airports We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious aviation professional to join our Airport Infrastructure Team within Amey Consulting in a permanent Senior Civil Design Engineer role. With the hybrid nature of the role and shared office space in most major UK cities, we welcome applications from Senior Civil Design Engineers from across the UK.

The Opportunity

This role is to join, lead and help shape the future of a high energy specialist design team, in a growing Airports business that builds on a long and distinguished history of supporting the aviation industry, both civil and defence, at home and abroad. We are a trusted partner with long-term relationships and contracts at Heathrow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton and Stansted along with a growing order book.

The Amey Airport Infrastructure Design Team has a track record of excellence in airfield design and successful project delivery at major UK civil/commercial airports including: Edinburgh Airport – Runway and Midfield Stands Detailed Design Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton Airport Taxiway and Runway Rehabilitations working on the AGS Capital Framework. The Role

Amey’s airfield specialism focuses on airside planning, asset management, civil engineering design and rehabilitation, pavement assessment, airfield stand services, ancillary facilities, aeronautical ground lighting (AGL) and aerodrome safeguarding. We are seeking experienced, organised, self-motivated and collaborative team players, preferably with a Chartered Civil Engineer status.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to fulfil a managing role within the design team to: Join an airfield design team and shape the future of infrastructure in the UK Learn from a recognised industry expert in Airfield and pavement design, John Grimsdale Deliver all specified project design outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required Comply with all relevant technical standards; including ICAO, EASA, CAA and local airport planning and engineering standards Maintain good relationships with all external stakeholders to enhance the reputation of the company Provide guidance, professional development and training for less experienced staff Support clients with sustainability challenges and provide carbon modelling, renewables and PAS2080 advice to support infrastructure development Lead on some international opportunities with overseas clients Work with an in-house aeronautical design team ensuring integrated solutions for clients Produce, check and present design concepts and options, design details, drawings, specifications and other technical documents Develop designs including runways, taxiways, stands and roads in accordance with the Client’s requirements and relevant design standards Prepare and check options analysis reports, survey briefs, design calculations and input into project health and safety files Manage individual design projects Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the budget for projects Assist in the preparation of bids.

What You Will Bring to Us

Qualified Engineer - (CEng + MICE, CMIHT or MIStructE desirable) Post-qualification experience designing infrastructure projects including pavements and associated services. Experience of airport design work is required Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with Office 365 and relevant engineering software including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and AviPLAN Experience of working in multi-disciplinary design teams including electrical and structural engineers Experience of designing foul and storm water drainage, fire mains, hydrant refuelling, pits and ducts and stand services Knowledge of ICAO, EASA and CAA regulations Knowledge of airport operations Good communication skills dealing with clients, project partners and supply chain Client-focused approach to service delivery
