Job Purpose: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a

Senior Engineer

to join our

Asset Management

team in the Solihull and Warwickshire area of the

West Midlands

region. An Engineer will work as part of the supportive West Midlands asset management team but also be given an area of the waterway network which will give you hands-on experience in managing our unique historic infrastructure. You will be responsible for inspecting and assessing the condition of our assets, prioritising repair and renewal works, and supporting the operations team on minor and reactive repairs. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide line management, support, and mentoring to a team of Engineers and Inspectors. You will be tasked with strategic asset management roles and have a greater influence on the management of our critical assets. Key Accountabilities: Asset management responsibility for a geographical area of canals, river navigations and reservoirs. Responsible for undertaking scheduled asset inspections, ensuring that they are completed on time and to a high quality. Investigate and prioritise defects on a risk-based approach. Define and support the maintenance, repair and renewal works for delivery by the Trust’s teams and contractors. Contribute technical advice during the feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases for projects. Management of a small team of asset inspectors. Support internal and external enquiries associated with the assets. Build relationships with local representatives of partnerships, regulators, and stakeholders. About You: This role is based with our

Asset Management team , and we are looking for someone with engineering experience, good knowledge in identifying engineering problems and solutions. Technical Requirements: Degree or HND in Civil Engineering. Incorporated (IEng) status - or actively working towards - with the Institution of Civil Engineers. Proven experience of inspecting engineering activities. Proven experience in assessing infrastructure risk. Proven experience of safety in engineering. Knowledge and understanding of historic infrastructure, preferably in the water environment, beneficial. General Requirements: Demonstrable experience in cross-functional working. Must hold a current valid driving licence. Proficient in the use of a personal computer and business applications software. Able to provide a good standard of written communication.
