Senior Civil/Structural Design Engineer | London or Leeds | Outside IR35

Overview

Experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to work on challenging projects supporting the UK's Net Zero goals. Projects span energy generation, transmission, and industrial applications. We seek motivated, adaptable engineers with technical, ethical, and project management skills, commercial awareness, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and project management for diverse engineering projects.
  • Manage budgets, track project timelines, and handle client and stakeholder expectations.
  • Conduct site surveys, produce engineering calculations, and generate detailed reports.
  • Mentor junior staff, fostering career growth and guiding them toward chartership.
  • Communicate project goals, strategies, and engineering solutions to clients.
  • Conduct quality checks, uphold SHEQ standards, and participate in peer reviews.

Skills & Requirements

  • Chartered or nearing chartership, with strong MS Office and CAD skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).
  • Knowledge of contract forms (e.g., NEC) and experience in contract management.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-disciplinary design inputs and ensure project compliance.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, CDM regulations, and quality systems.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and attend meetings.

Specialized Tasks

  • Produce detailed designs for various structures, drainage systems, and infrastructure elements.
  • Manage BIM/CAD documentation, ensure data integrity, and oversee pre-construction surveys.
  • Provide technical solutions for site issues, conduct third-party design checks, and design load-bearing and foundation elements.

This position initially requires in-office presence, with a transition to hybrid work.
