Job Responsibilities
To abstract and analyse complex clinical information and to assign codes using ICD10 and OPCS4 and enter these codes on to the trust’s system. To abstract and analyse complex clinical information and to assign codes using ICD10 and OPCS4 and enter these codes on to the trust’s PAS system. Work as a member of the clinical coding team with responsibility for the coding of allocated wards. Where a discharge summary is incomplete, the coder will be responsible for extracting co-morbidities and other relevant supplementary information from handwritten, complex medical notes including retrieving histological results to ensure specificity and completeness of diagnostic coding.
