A fellow in Maxillofacial Surgery with an interest in head and neck oncology is required to work within the regional South-West London Maxillofacial Surgery Network centered around the department at St George's Hospital. The unit is closely associated with the Thomas Tatum Head and Neck Unit and provides treatment for a large number of patients with head and neck cancer. The post offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a large Head and Neck Oncology service covering the South West of London with a population of 1.7 million. Main Duties of the Job
Duties and Responsibilities - The appointee will be expected to work in close collaboration with all the staff in the Maxillofacial Department. The post holder will also be expected to take part in local and regional Audit and Clinical Governance, in addition to contributing to the organization and supervision of junior medical staff. As this is a Fellow position, the appointee is expected to have completed the specialist training in their respective country and must provide evidence of attainment of their specialist qualification. The appointee must also be able to work in the UK (i.e., possession of HSMP or EU residency status). The appointee must be doubly qualified in Medicine and Dentistry. Job Responsibilities
The Maxillofacial fellow is expected to contribute to the general on-call maxillofacial surgery rota at specialist registrar level. A UK driving licence or equivalent would be an advantage. Timetable - The Fellow will attend the Head and Neck Oncology operating lists (Monday and Tuesday), the Head and Neck MDT, and following clinic. Additionally, the Fellow will be expected to play an active part in the educational activity of the department as well as caring for the inpatients and participating in clinical managerial activity as required by the Consultants. MBBS/MFDS/MRCS or equivalent Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent Higher Degree Experience
Comprehensive experience in the management of facial trauma, dento-alveolar pathology, oral medicine, and generic in-patient management skills Head and neck surgical oncology, surgical Dermatology. Skills
