An opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term Senior Clinical Perfusionist position within the Clinical Perfusion Department at UHNM. The successful applicant will have full UK registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion & have at least three years experience post qualification or is able to demonstrate suitable exposure. Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include: Clinically manage and control the temporary replacement of a patient’s cardiopulmonary function to enable cardiac surgery. Operate auxiliary equipment for patient safety and effective clinical outcomes. Assist in the development and management of the Clinical Perfusion Department. Participate in the “on call” and late duty rotas. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Choose the most appropriate equipment and disposable items for the procedure. Prepare equipment and disposables for cardiopulmonary bypass for routine and emergency cardiac surgery. Operate the heart lung machine and auxiliary equipment to maintain the patient’s clinical condition. Prepare and operate equipment for autologous blood salvage procedures. Prepare and operate equipment for the insertion and management of intra-aortic balloon catheters. Undertake and interpret blood gas analysis. Maintain, clean, and calibrate equipment, keeping relevant departmental records. Conduct informal in-service and external formal educational sessions. Directly supervise trainee perfusionists and assist in their development. Participate in research and development projects. Person specification
