A New Year, a new job! Do you want to be at the forefront of transforming clinical pharmacy? Do you want to work with a dynamic, supportive and friendly team? NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has an opportunity for an outstanding individual to lead the clinical pharmacy team providing services to Admissions and Emergency care services, providing direct patient care, clinical leadership and management excellence. The Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has published an overarching pharmacy strategy for the next two years and this post will be integral to its delivery. We are looking for an outstanding individual to continue to develop our pharmacy services to Admissions and ED areas within NHS Fife. It is an exciting time, as we contribute to the re-design of Emergency Care with the implementation of a same day emergency care (SDEC) model within this service area. As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will lead an established team of junior and specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. You will work closely with the emergency care multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, optimal and clinically effective use of medicines. This would include communicating highly complex information relating to medicines with clinicians, nurses, non-medical prescribers, carers and patients, as well as implementation and monitoring of clinical pathways for treatments, including review of treatment in line with national guidance. You will assist in the management of patients with acute and/or deteriorating conditions, ideally working as an independent prescriber in this care setting and attending ward rounds to maximise the pharmaceutical input into patient care. You will manage the pharmacy service to the Admissions unit and Emergency Department, ensuring optimum pharmaceutical care for rapid admission, transfer or discharge and contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, education and training, medicine efficiencies, clinical risk and audit within this specialty. You must be dynamic, compassionate and have a proven track record of service development to support our transformational improvement journey. You should also be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team. Our successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who has the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals. You should have experience of working in a clinical environment and managing staff. Non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable. The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate provides an ambitious programme of integrated care to the persons of Fife. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people and is provided by a team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team operate across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife. Please refer to the job pack for details on the role. A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society. Reference:
