As the Senior Pharmacist – Anticoagulation/Stroke, you will work across both the anticoagulation and stroke services at Nottingham University Hospitals. You will join the pharmacy stroke team, working alongside the Specialist Pharmacists for Stroke and Chief Pharmacy Technician – Stroke to provide a consistent, high-level pharmacy service to the Stroke inpatient wards. Within the anticoagulation service, you will work with the Specialist Pharmacist – Anticoagulation and the anticoagulation nurses and clinicians to support patients on anticoagulation therapy. This role offers the opportunity to engage in quality improvement, monitoring medication incidents, governance, and education and training for both qualified staff and student members. The role is based at Queens Medical Centre, but you may be required to work at the City Hospital campus or other wards within the integrated care directorate as per service needs. Main duties of the job

To partake in clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken in the Integrated Care Directorate wards and the anticoagulation service Leadership, management, and divisional/service support roles To line manage and support more junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians To take full part in the 7-day shifted rota and bank holiday duties Person specification

Training & Qualifications

B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or MPharm GPhC registered Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or other appropriate postgraduate qualification Independent Prescribing Qualification, or willing to complete within 12 months Training in or experience of prescribing in anticoagulation use and dosing Experience

Wide previous experience (post-registration) in hospital pharmacy Broad knowledge base of clinical areas Experience of day-to-day supervision and assisting in training of pre-registration pharmacists and/or technicians Understanding of issues affecting the NHS Evidence of project work completed Experience of working within stroke or anticoagulation specialities Experience of working in outpatient clinics Experience in undertaking and reporting/presenting audit/research work at local (Trust) level Experience working with patients with speech and swallowing difficulties Communication and Relationship Skills

Good interpersonal, negotiating, and presentation skills, both written and verbal Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams Good communication skills with multidisciplinary team members Able to defend opinions in a constructive manner when challenged Empathy with patients, relatives, and pharmacy customers Excellent communication skills with patients and carers Teaching skills Analytical and Judgement Skills

Critical evaluation of literature and literature searching skills for analysing, interpreting medicines information, production issues, drug therapy decisions, and patient information Able to assess and minimise the risk in medication processes Able to analyse patient-specific data to advise on therapy management Experience of analysing expenditure Planning and Organisation Skills

Organised, able to prioritise own work and assist others to prioritise Positive thinker Physical Skills

Competent ICT skills, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, retrieval of information from the internet Other requirements
