We are seeking applications for a Senior Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist post to work within Autism Inpatient Services. The post is fixed term for 12 months to help support the service during maternity leave. Main duties of the job
The Trust has a national inpatient admission unit, Mitford (located in Northgate Hospital, Morpeth, Northumberland), that provides for autistic people within a Positive Behaviour Support model. Psychological services are a key part of the multidisciplinary team within Mitford, and you will be involved in the delivery of psychological approaches (including psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention). This will include management, training, and supervision of psychological services (including assistant psychologists and trainee clinical psychologists) and opportunities to undertake clinical research within Mitford. You will work with an experienced clinical team and receive high-quality supervision. The post is based within Mitford Unit, Northgate Hospital but may require wider travel. Education and Qualification
Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society. HCPC registered practitioner psychologist. Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training, and/or other fields of applied psychology. Additional qualification in at least one therapeutic model, evidence-based for use with this client group. Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge and skills relevant to the client group and setting (e.g., children; inpatient). Evidence of continuing professional development. At least 12 months post-qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment. Experience of providing clinical supervision. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. Formal training in clinical supervision. Skills and Competencies
Skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Specialist skills in evidence-based psychological interventions. You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
