ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Commercial Product Manager will work with the SVP of Revops and sales leaders to set the advertising strategy and vision, defining objectives and requirements to deliver an always-on roadmap to enhance and optimise the advertising products across all owned and operated websites, apps, video, and network partners. You will be accountable for the success of the advertising and affiliate products, managing the product backlog, prioritising and maintaining the development of opportunities that the engineering team are working on, ensuring they deliver the most significant value for Footballco and our users. You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of how users interact with our properties through user research and analytics, and collaborate with a matrix of stakeholders to enhance the products to deliver revenue and repeat business. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Working with our sales and revenue operations teams to develop an ambitious and clear advertising product vision and strategy, effectively communicating this strategy to relevant stakeholders and teams. Effectively translating the advertising product strategy into a product roadmap, identifying priorities based on greatest impact to revenue. Owning and taking responsibility for the effective delivery of the consent management platform. Working with revops and design teams to optimise ad placement to increase viewability, ad performance, completion rates, and page RPM. Acting as the product and technical lead with third-party programmatic partners. Playing an active role in defining the 1st and zero party data strategy, including types of data captured, how it’s stored, and then used for commercial gains. Launching and overseeing an affiliate management platform, allowing the affiliate teams to scale the affiliate business across owned and operated and network websites. Leading product discovery with the team, researchers, and wider stakeholders to develop, experiment, and test new ideas that help shape the value proposition. Integrating usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and ensure customer-driven design. Ensuring communication around priorities, developments, and changes are clearly understood by stakeholders across the business. Planning product development out into the future by maintaining a backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team. Being involved in sprint planning meetings to help provide clarity and elaborate user stories to help the team better understand the requirements. Successfully identifying risks and mitigations that remove risk and uncertainty early in product development. Promoting and encouraging a continuous delivery culture within the product team, focusing on releasing value incrementally to deliver against objectives and key results. Analyzing market trends, competitive landscape, and industry development to identify various ad product opportunities. Acting as the ad and affiliate product subject matter expert for the product team, providing insight, context, and additional information as needed to help understanding of what is required. WHAT YOU HAVE Technical Skills Excellent knowledge of the advertising technology landscape including direct experience of ad server and programmatic partner integrations. Good knowledge of the affiliate technology landscape. Experience setting up DMPs both from a strategic and technical point of view. Strong understanding of Ad servers, pre-bid wrappers, programmatic partners (SSPs, DSPs), and active troubleshooting across each. Previous experience of page design and templates to drive high page RPMs while maintaining high user engagement. Strong understanding of affiliate campaign management, attrition, and post-click tracking. Product Knowledge Skills Strategic thinking – developing product vision & strategy, value propositions, and defining product market fit. Product discovery – identifying user needs & adopting user-centered design practices to develop opportunities into hypotheses, ideas, and prototypes for user testing. Product optimisation techniques – setting up experiments such as A/B and multi-variant tests to validate and build confidence in our hypotheses. Ideally previous experience with tools such as Confluence, data visualisation, Figma, Jira. Voice of Customer – collaborating with the design team and insights to devise ways to understand customer needs and underlying motivators. Individual Skills Growth and learning mindset, collaborator, and team player. Strong communication skills with comfort speaking with business stakeholders.
