Are you an imaginative, self-starting and experienced editor of preschool and picture books? Do you have a proven track record in acquiring the very best books for young children, and developing novelty formats? Hachette Children’s Books is looking for a highly motivated Senior Commissioning Editor to join their preschool and picture book team. Reporting to the Publisher, you will have a specific focus on preschool as well as editing picture books on our award-winning, bestselling list. Working alongside your senior colleagues, you will be responsible for implementing preschool strategy – creating high-quality books that meet market needs and delight young readers. Liaising with your design colleagues at every stage, you will be responsible for delivering the books on time and on budget. You will be key to reviewing preschool and picture book submissions, negotiating on contracts and championing titles in meetings and presentations. You will be someone with a wealth of ideas who is excited by creating content and new format ideas, as well as enjoying close collaboration with authors and illustrators to make the best possible books. This is a great opportunity for someone with creative flair, excellent editorial and organisational skills, an understanding of novelty formats and an appetite for IP. Who we are looking for

Excellent project management and editorial skills are essential, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the children’s market.
