Cumulus Consultants Ltd. is seeking an experienced consultant to join our team on a full-time basis to project manage and provide technical input to our bespoke projects. The senior consultant will lead one or more of our core business streams and undertake related business development to grow our work and impact. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record in undertaking natural capital, green finance and agriculture consultancy for clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors in the UK and abroad. Key strengths will include being strategic, analytical and adaptable. Key Responsibilities Lead one or more of our core business streams – natural capital, green finance and agriculture – and work with our Managing Director to help grow the business and our positive impact. Lead and manage projects in your core business stream(s), ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet client expectations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, providing tailored solutions and producing high quality deliverables. Provide technical expertise to natural capital, agri-environment, green finance, agriculture and forestry projects awarded to Cumulus, working as a part of a project team of core staff, associates and partners. This might include strategy/policy/technical advice, literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative analysis, stakeholder engagement, reporting and presentations. Contribute to proposals and tenders, and identify new opportunities, leading on those bids/opportunities in your core business stream(s). Contribute to business development and general marketing, leading on business development in your core business stream(s) (e.g. R&D, innovation, networking, partnerships, pro-active approaches). Mentor and line manage a graduate consultant (yet to be appointed). Undertake relevant continuing professional development and training. Required skills and qualifications Significant experience in leading and delivering consultancy projects involving natural capital, green finance and sustainable/regenerative agriculture. Experience in delivering bespoke projects to clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors in the UK. Demonstrated ability to keep client projects on track and within budget. Strong report writing and editing skills, including good attention to detail. Excellent abilities in strategy/policy/technical advice, literature review, qualitative/quantitative analysis, stakeholder engagement, reporting, innovation, communication and collaboration. Experience of agricultural and/or environmental economics, including economic analysis and modelling. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of company information. Membership of a professional body (e.g. IEMA, IEEM, RICS). Preferred skills and qualifications Experience in delivering projects involving: climate/carbon/net zero; agri-environment schemes; and Land Use/Management Frameworks. Experience of undertaking international projects. GIS/mapping experience. Line management experience. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Land Management, Agricultural/Environmental Economics or similar. Experience of using project management software. Ability to visit (remote) client sites through the UK and abroad when required. Other qualities we look for: Professional, positive and confident. Hunger to undertake bespoke and challenging consultancy in a fast-moving sector. Passion for contributing to the growth and success of the company, and improving sustainable land and natural resource management. Willing to shape the business and potentially take a stake in it in the future. What we offer: Competitive salary of £40,000-50,000 (dependant on experience).
