Role Purpose: To ensure there is a robust controls environment across Operations and to reassure senior management that internal controls are operating as intended, with risks properly managed through audits, reviews and testing. To ensure the Operations function is compliant with changes to Provision 29 of the Corporate Governance code related to Internal Controls, working closely with the wider controls functions across the Group and the Internal Audit, Risk, Controls and Compliance department. Key Responsibilities: Developing, implementing and maintaining robust internal control systems to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across all manufacturing and distribution processes. Providing assurance regarding the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures in the operational environment, including close collaboration with the SHE, Technical and IT functions to ensure alignment and visibility across the wider Operations function. Provide assurance to senior management that operational activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements. Regularly assess and update internal control systems to address evolving risks and regulatory changes. Report regularly to Senior Leadership Team on control assurance outcomes. Developing, updating and enhancing policies and procedural documentation as required for key areas of the Operations function. Subject matter expert for ERM (Risk Advisor) for Operations and Engineering by leading the development of risk registers in line with ERM requirements, including risk identification, assessment, and monitoring controls and actions. Keep track of regulatory changes to assure up-to-date compliance knowledge. Work closely with the wider business stakeholders and ensure close alignment with the Internal Audit, Risk, Controls and Compliance function. What we’re looking for: Proven experience and understanding in risk management, internal audit, compliance, or a related field. Previous roles in senior auditor controls positions (desirable). Good understanding of an internal controls framework. Familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) methodologies and tools for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks. Good understanding of operations in a manufacturing and distribution environment. Proven ability to influence senior colleagues and gain buy-in to their approach. Breadth of experience that shows the ability to think through problems, undertake appropriate analysis and take effective actions in relation to risk. Familiarity with IT systems that support stock management and processing (e.g. System 21, Main saver etc). In depth understanding of Business improvement methodologies. Facilitation skills to enable people to understand and drive improvements. Proven track record of driving commercial improvement in a manufacturing environment.
