This role will work with our asset strategy teams and oversee the scoping, development, delivery and first-line technical assurance for new HVDC Converter assets supporting our growing HVDC technology portfolio. The principal value created by this role is the identification and management of HVDC Converter technology opportunities and risks so that the SI HVDC portfolio is suitably managed. This will be achieved by the development, implementation, and management of new HVDC Converter engineering strategies, processes and capabilities. What's in it for you?

A competitive salary of £55,000 p.a. to £80,000 p.a. depending on experience. In addition to your annual salary, you will also receive: Bonus: an annual bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance. Pension: a generous pension scheme where we double match; for every £1 you contribute, we’ll put in another £2, with a maximum of 12% into your pension when you pay 6%. Company Car: depending on business travel mileage, you may be eligible for a company car with a monthly voucher value for selection. Annual Leave: 26 days annual leave, with the option to buy an additional 5 days and flexible use of up to 3 bank holidays. Share plans: participate in our Sharesave and Share Incentive Plans to buy shares at a reduced price. Family Care: full pay for the first 26 weeks of maternity, adoption, surrogacy or shared parental leave, and emergency backup care days. Act as a subject matter expert on the management of HVDC Converter activities supporting our new transmission assets. Ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of HVDC Converter solutions. Inspire and influence both internal and external stakeholders to realise acceptable outcomes. Create and support the implementation of an engineering capability growth plan. Account for business risk: time/cost/quality/safety and provide assurance that HVDC Converter engineering activities are within business tolerance. Identify and drive innovation in line with the strategic direction. Lead and shape National Grid’s relationships with key external stakeholders. Establish and maintain a network of thought leaders to establish market trends. About you

Technical authority in area of specialism balancing quality, safety, cost and delivery. Expert knowledge recognised in business area.
