We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our small but busy and successful Data engineering team. The Data Team is responsible for developing and maintaining our high-quality data provisioning service which ensures that management information is available to decision makers across our organisation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our three other experienced Senior Data Engineers and our Enterprise Architect. The Senior Data Engineer post will also be responsible for optimizing business processes relating to our SAP ERP application by developing interfaces, workflows, and custom reports using ABAP programming language and other SAP development tools. Training will be provided, but a proven aptitude for software engineering and development is vital. What We Are Looking For From You

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Implementing organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for data management processes, including classification, security, quality, ethical principles, retrieval, and retention processes. Creating data models that visually represent and convey data requirements to enable our organisation to understand its data assets. Developing data management structures and metadata to support consistency of information retrieval, combination, analysis, pattern recognition, and interpretation throughout our organisation. Delivering a structured and effective data repository for our organisation. Designing, building, testing, and maintaining ETL processes on very large datasets. Optimising code and configuring cloud provisioned resources to achieve maximum throughput and allowing business-critical workloads to take priority. Monitoring ETL/ELT processes, quickly acting upon failures, proactively communicating errors/failures, and coordinating with other teams whenever necessary to resolve. Using ABAP and SAP development tools, customising standard SAP functionalities, creating custom reports and interfaces, implementing business logic and workflows, and integrating external systems with our SAP ERP application as requested by our business teams for operational or project work. Working to best practices in source code management, using the company source control tools and processes. Ensuring that high-quality documentation is developed, maintained, and regularly reviewed for all development and operational processes. Performing peer reviews of solutions and documentation in order to ensure that company procedures and standards are followed consistently.
