As a subject matter expert, a key responsibility of this role is to coach and mentor a team of Data Engineers. The role will require a level of ‘hands on’ activity to embed modern data engineering practices in the team. There will also be a requirement to oversee architectural designs and principles, ensuring these are implemented effectively by the engineering team. These key components coupled with excellent communication skills to provide direction for the Engineering team will mean activity is aligned to the overall objectives of the Department. We embrace a culture of experimentation and constantly strive for improvement and learning. Using Agile techniques, you will regularly deliver incremental enhancements to our products. You will actively participate in design and code reviews, providing direction and mentoring to others. You will do this working in a collaborative, trusting environment, one that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best interests of our customers and colleagues. What Do We Need From You? Our ideal candidate will have: Relevant Azure certifications; Azure Data Engineer Associate Ability to oversee architectural designs and principles, ensuring these are implemented effectively Competent in Agile working methodology and delivering change Experienced in the design and development of business intelligence infrastructure utilising cloud and data warehousing (SQL) technology Excellent leadership - gaining the trust and respect of own team and Senior management Experienced people/line manager with proven record of leadership and coaching outcomes, resulting in a highly motivated, focused team Ability to interpret corporate direction and identify implications for the Department Experience of business case creation, benefit identification, planning and management Diversity and inclusion are a priority for us as we continue to support our members and represent the communities we serve.
