Job Title Senior Data Privacy Specialist Job Description The Role The Senior Data Privacy Specialist of the Reinsurance Division of Pacific Life (including UnderwriteMe) is accountable for the data protection compliance programme and for identifying and escalating data protection compliance risks. The incumbent in this role is expected to be highly proactive, motivated and play a key part in developing a culture of data protection compliance consistent with the Pacific Life target culture and consistent with our Values and Behaviours. The incumbent in this role will work in collaboration with: the legal team in Pacific Life Re; the privacy team accountable for Pacific Life’s US privacy programme; and the teams working in data security and data governance. The Senior Data Privacy Specialist is required to: act independently; provide expert knowledge of data protection law and practices in the UK and EU; inform and advise Pacific Life Re & UMe entities and their staff of their obligations pursuant to GDPR and other data protection laws relevant to the Pacific Life Re Division; monitor compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection laws; provide advice re data protection impact assessments and monitor performance; perform each task to be carried out with due regard to the risk associated with processing operations, taking into account the nature, scope, context and purposes of processing; advise on data breaches and act as a key member of a data incident response team; assist with streamlining processes and enhancing collaboration across Pacific Life in all privacy matters. Duties Shape the agenda for data protection compliance programme based on identified level of compliance risk and any changes to the data protection requirements. Prepare plans for monitoring the risk. Report and escalate data protection compliance risks accordingly. Maintain a clear understanding of the data flows of the business of the Reinsurance Division of Pacific Life. Responsibility for ensuring adequate data transfer mechanisms are in place. Influencing the technical and organisational security measures in place to protect personal data and continuously assessing the adequacy of such measures. Provide expert, up to date knowledge of data protection law and practices in relation to business transactions and 3rd party arrangements. Support the business in data protection impact assessments. Contribute to third party risk assessments. Responsibility for creating and maintaining comprehensive records and policies relating to data protection compliance. Raise awareness of data protection issues and ensure the adequate training of staff. Proactively engage with teams to assist them to develop and maintain proportionate data protection compliance process and procedures. Monitor internal teams for Data Protection compliance. Lead on identifying, investigating and reporting data breaches. Acting as a key member of a data incident response team and communicating with privacy regulators where necessary. Responding to right requests under relevant data protection law such as Data Subject Access Request (DSARs). Qualifications & Expertise

Excellent communication and influencing skills and an ability to operate at all levels and able to demonstrate a track record of strong working relationships with the business. Experience of data protection compliance in the financial services industry, ideally life insurance or reinsurance. Deep understanding of the requirements of EU /UK GDPR. At least 5 years’ experience of being a Data Protection Officer under EU /UK GDPR or working in data protection compliance at a senior level. Experience of advising on privacy matters in the multiple jurisdictions where Pacific Life operates preferred but not essential. Ability to learn quickly on the job the core requirements of different jurisdictions (with the support of local legal team). Ability to set and deliver compelling compliance strategies in a challenging business environment.
