Senior Design Engineer - Aerospace Systems (Military & Civil)

Purpose of the Job:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our client's team. The main focus of this role is to design and detail efficient landing gear systems for both military and civil aircraft, supporting the entire product lifecycle from concept through to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design background in similar components, such as actuators, hydraulic systems, or load-bearing structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design and development of landing gear systems for military and civil aircraft, ensuring all designs meet demanding customer specifications and industry standards.
  2. Support all stages of the design lifecycle, from concept through detailed design, testing, and production support, ensuring quality and performance targets are met.
  3. Utilize advanced CAD software (such as CATIA V5), 3D modeling, and 2D drafting systems to create high-precision designs and technical documentation.
  4. Conduct technical presentations and reviews with customers, ensuring their requirements are fully captured and addressed.
  5. Collaborate closely with internal teams such as engineering, manufacturing, and program management, as well as external teams at other company sites, to ensure seamless project execution.
  6. Interface with manufacturing teams to reduce non-conformances and improve product quality.
  7. Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  8. Work towards achieving design check signatory status while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and best practices.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering).
  2. Strong design background with experience in developing components similar to landing gear, such as actuators, hydraulic systems, or structural assemblies.
  3. Proficient in CAD software (CATIA V5, training will be provided if necessary) and knowledgeable in aerospace design and manufacturing processes.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to stakeholders.
  5. General computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  1. Previous experience in the aerospace industry, ideally within both civil and military projects.
  2. Experience in a technical lead role, with responsibility for guiding and developing junior engineers.
  3. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and FEA tools.
  4. Knowledge of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes, including metal forming and machining techniques.

What We Offer:

  1. A competitive salary and benefits package.
  2. The opportunity to work on innovative landing gear systems for both civil and military applications.
  3. A role that combines technical design with leadership, offering career growth and development opportunities.
  4. Collaboration with a highly skilled and diverse team, working on cutting-edge aerospace technology.

If you have a passion for aerospace design, along with a strong design background and leadership capabilities, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to become part of a high-performing team shaping the future of landing gear systems.
