Are you passionate about innovative design and engineering? We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and refining cutting-edge products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life, and ensuring our designs meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Our Senior Design Engineer opportunity is based at our Head Office in Christchurch and will attract remuneration in the range of $95k to $125k per annum. It is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

The duties of the role will include:

Maintain up-to-date expertise in the field by contributing to technical discussions, writing papers and studies, and delivering presentations as needed.

Demonstrate strong communication skills through clear written reports and engaging verbal presentations.

Ensure all activities are planned and documented to established standards.

Provide mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in engineering methodologies.

Lead design efforts by showcasing innovation and deep expertise across a wide range of engineering tasks.

Support team growth by assisting other engineers, helping them refine existing skills, develop new ones, or accelerate their learning process.

Ō pūkenga - About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor, Postgraduate or other appropriate tertiary level NZQA approved qualification in a relevant field) in a relevant field (Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant area).

As well as:

5+ years of experience in a similar role and industry (for example - Telecommunications or Technology).

Proficiency in C++ programming.

Experience with Software Design and familiarity with the full lifecycle of commercial product development.

Experience with wireless communications (including Land Mobile Radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular) is preferred.

Experience with virtualisation is preferred.

Experience with databases (e.g. MySQL, sqlite) is preferred.

Experience with Linux and open source development is preferred.
