Client Details Our client is a well-established, SME manufacturing company based in Lancaster.

Description Main Purpose of the Role Lead and develop the technical team in the design and development of all products. Support the commercial function of the business with technical input for both new & existing customer or technical enquiries. Manage and develop a team of designers and draughtsmen. Responsible for all new & existing product design activity, generating quotes, drawings/models & structural assessments (FEA) utilizing Solidworks. Act as the main point of contact for design queries for clients or internal team members. Lead the technical design process for both new and existing products requiring modification, including preparation of CAD drawings on Solidworks. Identify & deliver cost savings through value engineering without compromising the integrity or quality of the product. Manage the company's technical database, ensuring that all products have the appropriate technical drawings and that these are up to date and accurate. Utilize Solidworks Simulation (FEA) to ensure that products maintain structural integrity & quality. Research new technologies/ideas to enable proactive innovation and maintain market leadership. Create standard ranges of all product streams in assembly and sub-assembly format for quoting and further customization. Identify appropriate suppliers for new materials or components that meet quality and price requirements. Liaise with operational teams to ensure that products are designed for manufacture in line with customer expectations. Work with the operational team to ensure appropriate testing processes are followed and certified where required. Collaborate closely with manufacturing and assembly departments to provide advice, guidance, and assist problem-solving as needed. Ensure that materials from existing suppliers are delivered to specification. Profile People Manager or supervisory experience with a proven track record in managing or supervising a small design engineering team. Fully versed and experienced in the use of Solidworks 3D CAD package or similar design software. Understanding of manufacturing technologies, processes, and installation. A solid manufacturing background in a mechanical design engineering role. Able to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that technical details are communicated clearly and concisely. Innovative thinker capable of providing solutions. Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and possess good team working skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to multitask, juggle multiple needs from the business, prioritize and adapt as necessary. High standard computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Word). Job Offer £50,000 to £55,000 plus package.
