We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our client's team in Aberdeen. As an integral part of the technical department, you will oversee a team of highly skilled Architects and Engineers and lead the delivery of high-quality design solutions across regional developments. As Senior Design Manager, you will report directly to the Technical Director and collaborate closely with the Land Team. The Senior Design Manager will oversee technical engagement across all stages of development, ensuring the delivery of top-quality results to internal and external customers. This role is integral to the Planning function and the broader business, contributing significantly from the land bid stage to obtaining planning permission. Key Responsibilities

Assess new development opportunities, identifying potential risks and advantages. Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy that maximizes value and aligns with the overall development strategy. Oversee external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standard. Maintain and update programmes and documentation to track progress and inform project teams. Manage fee budgets and monitor expenditures, working closely with land, commercial, and construction teams. Collaborate with consultants and in-house design teams to deliver comprehensive construction design packages that align with commercial requirements. Ensure contractors receive the necessary information on schedule to meet programme milestones. Identify and address any delays, assess their impact on the programme, and communicate findings to the project team. Coordinate with commercial and cross-functional teams to ensure the timely receipt, review, and distribution of design information. Provide support to the Pre-Development Manager and Land Managers/Director as needed by coordinating and managing project team meetings with consultants and other departments. Ensure all relevant action points are documented and followed up in a timely and efficient manner. Oversee the management of statutory consents in partnership with the Land Team, ensuring all required approvals are applied for and obtained in a timely manner to maintain programme targets. Monitor compliance with planning conditions and legal agreements. Act as deputy for the Technical Director when required, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.

Knowledge & Skills Required The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Proven track record of successfully managing both standard and complex residential developments through all critical stages of the development cycle. Expertise in creating and managing detailed development programmes. In-depth knowledge of current and emerging Technical Standards. Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management capabilities. Strong commercial awareness. Proven negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven expertise in project management and design delivery.

Compensation Generous salary, dependent on experience. Company car or car allowance. Bonus scheme.
