The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the advanced processes of architecting, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure along with the CI/CD Pipelines. Senior DevOps Engineers provide support to DevOps Engineers in performing the above listed processes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive, and experienced individual, who can think creatively to solve problems and meet technical requirements. You must have a keen interest and good knowledge in cloud engineering and be ready to research, learn, and advise new tools, technologies and patterns as required. You will be working in our Customer spoke platform engineering team responsible for provisioning and maintaining the platform supporting the Agile Release Trains in the Value Stream under the guidance of Staff DevOps Engineers, supporting the software engineers by automating all aspects of the SDLC through CI/CD and contributing to the delivery of the DevOps and Cloud capability’s strategy. As part of this your main duties will comprise of: Delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to meet the Value Streams requirements. Applying specific quality standards to all tasks undertaken to ensure that deliverables are accurate and complete. Documenting all work using required standards, methods, and tools. Taking an automation first approach to CI/CD. Having a passion for learning and demonstrating best practices for Cloud Engineering. Proposing and applying agreed standards and tools as required, to achieve a well-engineered result. Improving, supporting, and maintaining existing solutions and identifying/remediating technical debt. Contributing to improvements of our technical excellence and ways of working within Squad, Chapter and Guild forums. Active participation in Squad, Chapter and Guild forums. Ensure other engineers code adheres to standards and providing reviews on that code. Takes ownership of Squad's active investigations and tasks to ensure quality of work and speed of resolution. Providing Security Reviews for newly developed infrastructure patterns. Ensuring deliverables adhere to our alerting, monitoring, and logging strategy. Be a knowledge expert on Cloud and DevOps Engineering and provide advice and support when required. This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success. While this is a largely remote role, the successful candidate will need to be based in the UK. Experience Required: Essential: DevOps Experience working with GCP. Experience using CI/CD concepts and using tools such as Jenkins/Azure. Experience in automation scripting and using languages such as Python/Bash/Ruby. Experience working with GKE and Anthos. Experience of managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. Experience of version control systems such as Git. Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and practices. Desirable: Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD Experience working with MemoryStore, Networking, Secret Manager, IAM Experience of Security Tooling such as Checkov, Nexus IQ and other cloud-specific security tools. Experience in using GitOps tools such as ArgoCD. Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. Understanding of cost and budget requirements for GKE. Understanding of Network concepts. Interview Process: There will be one online test and two interviews via Microsoft Teams. Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance: We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience.
