Job Overview

The UKRI CIO Group plays a pivotal role in leading and optimising the organisation's critical enterprise technical services that underpin and enable UKRI’s business capabilities. Within the group, a team of Software Development and IT Operations professionals support the delivery of modern, secure, resilient and scalable services across a larger federated team of Digital, Data and Technology professionals to deliver impact across the organisation and the wider UK research and innovation system.

This post provides a rare opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer to step into a lead planning and operations role in an organisation at the heart of research and innovation in the UK. Working as part of a team of technical specialists and reporting directly to the Principal DevOps Engineer, your broad remit is to support the development and operation of software through tools, environments and practices by underpinning good development processes including managing tools and testing environments, central code control, maintaining development standards and writing software that automates systems.

Responsibilities

Transform technical requirements into an effective DevOps toolchain to enable product delivery.

Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues.

Ensure that deployment strategies for products are repeatable, scalable and highly available.

Work effectively across multi-discipline teams and provide cross-boundary technical leadership.

Have deep technical knowledge, providing support to delivery teams and solving complex problems.

Knowledge of secure solution design.

Able to implement modern development standards.
