Pipeline Project Management is seeking a

Senior Director, Project Management Advisor

to empower Pipeline Project Managers (PPMs) who deliver on GSK’s Ambition for Patients by helping teams assess options, choose the best course, and execute with rigor. In this position, you will bring a passion for delivering profound business impact and developing others. Building on significant experience, leadership, and accomplishments in Pharma R&D project management, you will be part of PPM Capability’s mission to develop and sustain best-in-industry project management practices, coach PPMs to strengthen key capabilities, deliver results, and grow in their careers. The PM Advisor will partner with PPMs and Development Leaders to ensure successful outcomes and team commitment by facilitating high-impact project workshops (including strategy formulation, option planning and analysis, critical path acceleration, and team work norms) while mentoring the PPM on facilitation skills and techniques. This role is responsible for owning other key aspects of capability development to ensure consistent, effective development and outcomes for PPMs. This role brings a consultative mindset to identify needs and opportunities for continuous improvement and collaborate in the design, communication, and adoption of integrated solutions for Pipeline Project Management and its stakeholders. These responsibilities include some of the following: Be on the leading edge of implementing best-in-class methodologies across R&D by facilitating With line managers, facilitate the development planning process to ensure consistency across PPM, applying coaching and development skills to: Assess current capabilities, needs in role, and career aspirations

Prioritize focus areas, identify enabling resources, and establish progress indicators

Identifying opportunities to practice learnings, enrolling stakeholders as partners in development, and committing with accountability

Conduct regular coaching sessions, assess progress, and adapt goals

Facilitate high-impact project workshops to drive successful outcomes and team commitments: Partner with project leaders and PPMs to plan and facilitate successful workshops

Apply facilitative techniques to ensure efficient sessions, effective decision-making, conflict resolution, and clear commitment with follow-up to drive intended outcomes

Coach PPMs on facilitation skills and techniques while providing opportunities for learning in practice

Provide on-demand guidance and coaching to ensure PPMs consistently and effectively demonstrate key capabilities. Through a deep understanding of drug development and project management expertise, guide PPMs in effectively leveraging GSK’s processes and systems to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes for project teams.

Provide a sounding board for PPMs to position them for success in key interactions with stakeholders and governance while building critical skills.

With a consultative and collaborative mindset, translate innovative ideas and best practices into widely adopted and effective solutions. Leverage data analytics capability, stakeholder network, and direct feedback to derive valuable insights and identify opportunities.

Identify and promote best practices to drive wider adoption and consistency across PPM.

Collaborate with PPM leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful and consistent design, implementation, and change management of process and system improvements.

Drive continuous development of yourself and the department Continuously enhance personal understanding of best practices and innovations in project management, leadership, facilitation, and coaching

Contribute to GSK’s external influence in industry and PPM’s reputation as a leader in project management through conference presentations and publications

Take accountability for the development of others with a focus on measurable success and impact

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Entrepreneurial spirit, strong judgement, and strong collaborative leadership skills including effective communication, emotional intelligence, relationship building and influencing skills

Demonstrated aptitude for coaching and mentoring to develop others’ project management capabilities (leadership, soft skills, technical skills)

Business-oriented and strategic mindset

Advanced degree in life science or business management

Extensive pharmaceutical R&D experience

Demonstrated success in pharmaceutical project management across multiple phases of research and development (discovery to phase 4), with planning & execution, risk management, and budgetary responsibility

Deep understanding of and ability to communicate key project management concepts, especially critical path acceleration

Ability to explain how organizational structure and incentives influence team dynamics and project outcomes

Deep expertise with project management tools such as Planisware and/or MS Project, and advanced proficiency with MS Office applications

Strong communication skills in writing and presentation

Deep knowledge of multi-disciplinary pharmaceutical drug and/or vaccine development required (oncology, vaccines, specialty & primary care, infectious disease)

Ability to foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally

Adaptability and nimble thinking

Passion for delivering medicines and vaccines to prevent and treat disease

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PMP certification

Formal training in facilitation

Certification or experience in Critical Chain methodology

Coaching certification or formal training
