The Opportunity
You’ll join a forward-thinking team with a passion for ecological innovation and sustainability. Your role will involve leading ecological surveys, including Preliminary Ecology Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Habitat Regulations Assessments. You’ll design mitigation strategies and provide expert advice on ornithology and bird surveys across diverse projects.
Expect variety—no two days are the same. You’ll collaborate with clients and colleagues across disciplines, adapting to the challenges of the natural world. The pace is fast, but there’s always time to reflect and learn.
The Role
As a Senior Ecologist, you’ll:
- Lead ecological surveys and assessments, with a focus on ornithology.
- Manage projects from scoping to completion, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Develop strong client relationships and secure new opportunities to grow your portfolio.
- Mentor junior ecologists, fostering their professional development.
Essential Skills and Experience
We’re looking for someone with:
- A degree in ecology, biological sciences, or a related field.
- Membership with CIEEM, ideally working towards Chartership.
- Specialism in ornithology, with experience in breeding and non-breeding bird surveys.
- Proficiency in Habitat Regulations Assessments and designing mitigation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation and planning policies.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Proven project management experience, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- A full UK driving licence.
