Senior Ecologist/ Ecology Director Job in Truro, Cornwall New opportunity for a Senior Ecologist job in Truro, Cornwall with a reputable and award-winning architecture and planning practice. The position offers flexibility for candidates to join either as a Senior Ecologist within the existing team or as a Director of a new business unit, with the opportunity to shape the direction of the business and potentially receive equity. Established over three decades ago, the practice has built a solid client base across the South West and across the UK. Offering a range of services across architecture and planning, they now have an area of growth within their ecology offerings. This is a unique opportunity to assist in the development of the business offerings in this area, either in-house or as a separate business. The ideal candidate will need to have a proven background in land ecology, habitat surveys, BNG/BNG Credits, and use of ecological tools. Role & Responsibilities Carry out and manage ecological and BNG assessments Site and client visits across the region Report writing and assistance with planning submissions Coordination of freelancers/consultants when required Support/lead the growth of the department as the business expands. Required Skills & Experience Proven background in land ecology Bat habitat surveys; additional experience in newt, badger, and dormice surveys is also desirable Bat habitat licence, strongly preferred Experience with bio-diversity net gain, including impact assessments and ideally BNG credits Chartered Ecologist status is highly desirable Business development and client relations experience also desirable. What you get back Salary of £35,000 – £45,000 (in-house position) Holiday of 22 days plus bank holidays Health insurance On-site parking, social events, and development opportunities Salary, equity and package is negotiable for the Director position.
