Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an oil and gas service company based in Dyce, Aberdeen. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will design and develop electrical systems for new and existing equipment. The post holder will provide electrical design outputs in line with project requirements and will ensure compliance with industry standards. Reporting to the Design Engineering Lead, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities: Designing and specifying electrical systems for new and existing equipment. Developing designs from concept through to finished product in line with design request and equipment technical specification. Performing engineering verification analysis to assess suitability of design. Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards. Creating quality designs, drawings, calculations and supporting documents in line with design request requirements. Undertaking role of lead electrical design engineer on company projects. Providing electrical engineering support across the business. Providing support/assistance in the process of assembly, testing and deploying company equipment. Determining the availability of assets and assemblies based on their electrical certification, condition of repair, allocation, and operation. Checking and approving technical documents associated with design development. Supporting engineering cost and delivery estimates. Ensuring project progress is sufficiently communicated to Engineering Design Lead and key project stakeholders. Experience/Qualifications: Essential: A Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline. Previous experience in a similar Electrical Design Engineer type role. Experience in electrical/mechanical equipment design and manufacture. Design development experience with new products/technology. Experience of providing engineering solutions to design problems. Experience with 2D CAD systems. Working knowledge of the Machinery Directive. Working knowledge of the ATEX Directive. Proficiency in hand calculations for verification of design suitability. Preferred: Chartered Engineer status or working towards. Current/valid offshore certification. Experience in the oil and gas industry. Experience with drilling, solids control or drilling fluids. Experience with CE marking of electrical equipment and machines. AutoCAD experience. Experience with 3D CAD systems. Autodesk Inventor experience. Hands-on experience with assembly and testing of new technology. Experience with NORSOK standards.
