R&D Team Lead - Electronic and Software Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and maintain market-leading electromagnetic, optical, and electrochemical sensors for ABB’s PAMA (Process Automation – Measurement & Analytics) division. Working in a dynamic multi-disciplinary R&D department consisting of over 20 technicians, engineers, and scientists on multiple concurrent NPI and maintenance projects. This role will focus on sustaining ABB’s vast portfolio of products and ensuring new product developments are designed with utmost quality. The work model for the role is: onsite at our Stonehouse location #LI-onsite. You will be mainly accountable for: Collaborating with a multi-disciplined cross-functional team in the creation of new products and the support of existing ones - maintaining electronics designs of ABB’s range of products, including selection of alternative components, ensuring designs are maintainable, and ensuring product performance is maintained throughout its lifetime. Design, develop and test electronics following processes aligned to recognised best practices to meet required specifications and ensure compliance with internal and external standards. Proactively identify customer value and implement creative ideas based on customer needs to improve ABB products. Provide advice to management regarding projects, initiatives, and technical investigations, on their potential application and the resolution of complex problems. Propose, develop and implement measures to improve design team operations and customer satisfaction. Actively work to identify and mitigate technical risks in product development projects and activities, including feasibility exercises and intellectual property searches. Product design change and design maintenance, working with cross-functions to see changes introduced into production. Design validation testing. Prototype manufacture and verification. Continuous improvement of self and company processes. Adhering to corporate values and standards including health and safety, ethics, and integrity. Qualifications for the role

Degree in Electronic Engineering or other relevant technical discipline. Proven experience after qualifications in embedded electronics design. Evidence of working within a controlled engineering change process. Effective and clear communicator. Experience in analog and digital electronic hardware design, including instrumentation front-end measurement and ultra-low power design. Experience in designing for EMC and safety standards (Hazardous area, Intrinsic safety, general safety, SIL etc.), including transposing electronic designs onto PCB. Knowledge of embedded software development (C, C++, etc). More about us
