Senior Structural Engineer , you will provide expertise to individuals and project teams on all aspects of structural engineering and compliance against railway structural requirements. Main Accountabilities for this Senior Structural Engineer role: Responsible for excellence in technical delivery to projects, placing DB ESG in the position of preferred supplier to existing customers and open opportunities with new customers. Shall demonstrate competence and knowledge in the following areas: 3D CAD modelling (preparation of SolidEdge models for FEA) FEA methods FEA systems (DB ESG utilise Ansys Workbench) Validation methods (hand calc, strain gauging) Structural Analysis & Design Relevant RGS, BS & EN standards Contribute to the development of effective technical relationships with existing and new customers and supply chain partners. Responsible for application of a rigorous approach to estimating during the bidding process resulting in accurate and achievable project budgets and high quality competitive bids. Contribute to a teamwork culture within a team of Engineers ensuring efficient and effective communication with other areas of DB ESG for the successful definition and delivery of work packages. Responsible for delivery of work packages agreed to other Engineering and Project teams to time, cost and quality. To provide technical support, advice and guidance to other team members. To take responsibility for promoting the company values and contribute to the strategic aims of the business. Contribute to the definition of new processes and procedures and development of existing processes and procedures within the Engineering team. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for this Senior Structural Engineer Role: Significant experience in the field of Traction & Rolling Stock engineering, particularly in the field of Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Chartered Engineer, or working towards. Mechanical systems integration design including significant vehicle modifications. Mechanical component specification and system design. Provision of Mechanical feasibility studies, including component replacement. Failure investigation, fault finding, analysis and rectification. Demonstrable knowledge of the railway industry, legislation and approvals processes. Design pack production - modification procedures, risk assessments, minor structural calculations (non-FEA). Production, review and approval of procurement specifications. Project and work package control to time, cost and quality constraints. Significant experience of working on multi-disciplined complex engineering projects. Proven record of building effective relationships with customers and suppliers. Production, review and approval of project cost estimating. Desirable knowledge, Skills and Experience for this Senior Structural Engineer Role: Production, review and approval of quantified risk assessments. Production, review and approval of Project proposals. Production, review and approval of minor structural calculations. Vehicle Maintenance Optimisation. Production, review and approval of Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI) and Vehicle Overhaul Instructions (VOI). Provide expert advice on broad range of UK T&RS vehicle types and related mechanical systems (Bogies, Wheelsets, Power Equipment, Braking Systems, Traction and Propulsion Systems etc.).
