We equip our front-line agents with high-tech tools to enable them to deliver the exemplary service that American Express is renowned for in bringing membership to life for our Cardmembers.

Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) Opus is a Global Customer Relationship Management platform that enables our Travel Representatives to service our Centurion and Platinum Card Members.

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to help us build upon our history of innovation and delivery as we expand our team and continue to forge a digital-first TLS.

You will be working within your own agile engineering team in close collaboration with the product owners to deliver high-quality features to your servicing colleagues.

Our platform is built using a modern broad technical stack that consists of microservices built using JavaScript, NodeJS, and Java with the Spring Framework. The focus of this role is to uplift and enhance these backend services with future opportunities to work with our web-based micro-front-end technologies an option.

Key Responsibilities

Produce high quality code to develop new features and resolve bugs

Write meaningful and extensive tests to demonstrate that our code meets our users’ requirements

Ensure that the application is flexible, performant, and able to scale to meet our global users' demands

Ability to work effectively and independently, in a senior capacity, as part of an agile team to help the team achieve its goals

Critically review code as part of our pull request process

Deploy applications to test and production environments using CICD tools (i.e., Github Hooks)

Contribute creatively to the solutioning of new work and be comfortable challenging the decisions and architecture of the application

Minimum Qualifications

Professional software development experience and/or comparable experience

University degree in a related field (i.e., computer science or computer engineering) and/or equivalent industry background

Experience working as part of an agile engineering team and contributing to regular agile ceremonies

Experience working with Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS

Extensive hands-on experience in API design and development

Programming, testing, and application design experience in JavaScript, React will be a plus

Comprehensive experience in utilizing and configuring cloud + CI/CD technologies, and how to get code into production quickly and reliably
