What is Flagstone? Flagstone is many things. An online savings platform, reinventing how individuals, businesses, and charities manage, protect, and grow their cash. A diverse group of people, bound by a collaborative spirit, and shared purpose. And lastly, a thriving, profitable business - where smart people do their best work. Each definition shares a common thread: our unique culture. It's our pride and joy. And our competitive advantage. A feel for our culture: To revolutionise the savings market, we need to be at our best. But high performance takes more than talent - it takes a culture of kindness, respect, and growth. That's why we're building a diverse, inclusive community, where your voice is heard and valued. Where, with close support and room to develop, you can surpass even your own expectations. And be rewarded for it. We may not change the world, but we can change the world of financial technology. And all it takes is a winning mix of drive, talent, and empathy. Our culture celebrates all three. But enough about us. Let's talk about you. Does this sound like you? This role will allow you to leverage your deep technical expertise in cloud platforms while continuing to develop your leadership skills. You'll apply your technical knowledge to guide strategic decisions, mentor team members, and drive innovation. This position offers a balanced mix of technical oversight and people management, providing a fulfilling career step for those ready to impact both technology and talent development in a dynamic cloud environment. This role primarily focuses on supporting and enabling the Platform Engineering team, with no explicit expectations for hands-on delivery. Your primary responsibility is to lead, guide, and empower your teams to achieve optimal results. However, there may be opportunities for hands-on work if time permits, allowing you to maintain and apply your technical skills when appropriate. The Platform Engineering function is made up of our Cloud Engineering, Security Engineering, and Core Services teams. Each team plays a foundational role in delivering the Flagstone cash deposit platform. What you'll do: Manage and mentor your direct reports Conduct performance reviews and support personal development, including managing 1:1s with your direct reports and skip levels Oversee cloud service delivery on Microsoft Azure Oversee and maintain cloud security best practices Work with the teams to identify and drive strategic initiatives Ensure successful execution of projects with the teams Monitor and report on cloud costs Manage the team on-call schedule and, once familiar with our systems and processes, participate in the Incident Manager rota with other Engineering leaders. (In Platform Engineering we currently average around one out-of-hours incident per quarter.) Lead and support Agile rituals and drive team performance What you'll bring: Extensive experience with cloud hosted service delivery, not necessarily Azure Strong understanding of cloud and software architecture fundamentals Strong understanding of Developer Experience Track record of successful people management Excellent communication and leadership skills Deep understanding of Agile and Lean methodologies Experience in strategic planning and project execution Nice to have: Experience in cloud cost optimisation Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools Experience with cloud native delivery Experience with cloud security implementation How we reward you: At Flagstone, the benefits extend beyond false gifts like "fruit and snacks". Instead, we invest in your health, wealth, and professional development. Here's a selection of our benefits: Private healthcare Life insurance (four times your annual salary) Dental/optical care Matched pension contributions (5%) Income protection Around the World in 90 days (remote working) £1,000 annual learning bursary 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) Remote working kit Additional 3 days community and charity leave each year Quarterly half days for Wellness leave Flexible bank holidays Gym discount All are welcome. At Flagstone, we're assembling a diverse team that defies our industry's norms. Think this role could suit you? We encourage you to apply, no matter your background.
