We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor to join our busy Scotland team. The purpose of the role is to drive environmental sustainability excellence across BAM Nuttall by championing the application of company environment management systems (EMS) and best practice, particularly with regards to aspects such as low carbon construction, biodiversity, zero waste and pollution management. You will provide a point of contact and reference for advice and guidance on the application of the EMS to designated projects, and will report directly to Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager.

Your work environment

This role will be predominantly project based and provide support covering sites across Scotland. You will be based at our Kilsyth office but will be required to travel to site locations in Inverness and other regions.

Your mission

You will be responsible for the following:

Support the implementation and delivery of project level EMS and customer requirements.

Investigate environmental incidents and advise on appropriate actions.

Contribute to the development and delivery of internal environmental sustainability training.

Developing relationships with stakeholders, regulators and supply chain specialists.

Identifying and communicating best practice and promote continued improvement including providing feedback on environmental performance.

Who are we looking for?

Necessary:

Good understanding of environmental legislation and UK regulatory framework and the ISO14001 standard.

Technical qualification in Environmental Management with minimum 5 years of experience working in an environmental role (preferably in construction industry).

Practitioner member of IEMA (or similar) and working towards Full Member and/or Chartered Environmentalist.

Experience in training, coaching and mentoring to environment staff and other key roles within the business.

Articulate and engaging communication skills.

Desirable:

Good working knowledge of low carbon construction and ecology management, preferably in relation to the civil engineering industry.

Strong connections and involvement with industry forum groups and trade bodies.

Experience of working within a team both co-located and operating remotely.

Collaborative and supportive behaviours.

Understanding of digital construction vision and its application and proficient in the application and use of information technology.
