We are recruiting two Senior Estates Officers with expertise in different areas: one mechanically biased to focus on HVAC, plumbing, and water safety, and one electrically biased to manage electrical distribution systems, fire alarms, and other safety critical electrical infrastructure.
Both roles require expertise in maintenance operations, capital projects, statutory compliance, and the management of multi-disciplinary teams. As key members of the Estates team, you will work closely with the Head of Estates, taking on significant responsibilities to ensure that our healthcare environments are safe, functional, compliant, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as an Authorised/Responsible Person (AP/RP) for specific systems, such as water safety, medical gases, ventilation (HVAC), pressure systems (mechanical role), or electrical systems and fire alarms (electrical role). Collaborate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Oversee planned and reactive maintenance and capital project programs (supporting the capital project team), ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs). Lead, manage, and develop an engineering team to deliver high-quality, 24/7 maintenance services. Provide technical expertise and guidance for capital projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Manage budgets effectively, driving cost-efficient operations. Ensure robust processes for incident response, risk management, and safety compliance. The Senior Estates Officers will:
Ensure that all engineering services meet national standards and healthcare-specific regulations. Drive compliance with safety protocols, including those outlined in HTMs, HBNs, and other relevant guidance. Lead on delivering robust systems for monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to support operational excellence. Be responsible for the effective use of resources, ensuring financial efficiency and sustainability. This role will require participation in an on-call rota to provide 24/7 support for emergency maintenance. Working Environment:
Frequent travel between sites (shuttle bus available) to oversee maintenance operations. Exposure to varying site conditions, including noise, damp environments, and confined spaces. Participation in out-of-hours working as part of an on-call rota to support emergency maintenance breakdowns. Regular physical activity, including working at heights or in confined spaces. Adherence to infection control protocols when working in clinical areas, ensuring safety for staff and patients. Communication and Working Relationships:

Close working relationships with Site and Departmental Managers, Ward Staff, Fire Officers, and other internal stakeholders to support the smooth operation of engineering services across the healthcare environments. Collaborate with senior management to ensure the effective delivery of services that meet compliance standards. External:
Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure efficient operations and compliance with maintenance contracts. Build strong relationships with external regulatory bodies and agencies to ensure the estate meets all necessary statutory requirements and healthcare regulations.
