An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to work with our organisation, producing high-quality, accurate estimates, processing tenders, reviewing tenders within the team prior to submission, identifying risks, acquiring prices, and preparing accurate take-offs. You will also be responsible for ensuring tenders are submitted in accordance with client requirements in terms of content, format and timescales and produce accurate, competitive, error free, thorough, well researched tenders in a standard format, whilst maintaining estimating files and records as required complying with Governance and Audit requirements. Where required, undertake measurement and quantification of tender drawings, and produce a Bill of Quantities in recognised method of measurement appropriate to the work type being tendered. OR where take-off is being undertaken externally then liaise with relevant parties to ensure this is done in a timely manner. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Work well within a team taking the leading role in the preparation and submission of an estimate. Prepare materials schedules to acquire necessary rates from the Buying Department. Work with the contracts management team to develop programme, sequence and scope of projects and agree on resources, risk management and methods of working to be incorporated into a tender. Organising and attending site visits with Clients and Sub-contractors. Assess contract terms and conditions, reporting on any risks and anomalies liaising with the Commercial Manager and Director aiding in protecting the company’s position through risk management. Prepare and distribute data to engineering team to allow earthwork models to be developed for tenders. Issuing subcontract package enquiries, analysing, and incorporating into tenders. Research materials and methods of working. Maintaining dialogue relationships with contractors and client during the tender process and post tender submission. Measurement from drawings and preparing take offs in excel including the use of Bluebeam pdf measurement tools prior to pricing in Candy Estimating Software. Analysing resource levels prior to adjudication in advance for tender submissions. Prepare and submit tenders in the company’s standard presentation format. Follow up submitted bids, price and issue necessary amendments working with the Commercial Director in discussions and negotiations to contract award. Upon award, complete hand over to the site team including issuing a summary report, marked up drawings, measurements, bills of quantities and resources data. Engage with the site team throughout the progress of a contract, offering assistance, advice on tender coverage. To believe in and uphold our company values. Have a background in civil engineering, structures and / or formwork and concrete or experience in a similar role. Be capable of taking the lead role in managing a bid. A personable personality is essential. Being prepared to go the extra mile and capable of working to deadlines and in a high-pressure environment where extra time and commitment may be required to fulfil the role. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to deal with clients & internal staff. Excellent organisational and planning skills. Constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations ensuring safety and quality are never compromised. A full UK driving license is essential to carry out site surveys. You must have an excellent level of computer literacy (with all Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, Bluebeam pdf measurement software). Ideally, a working knowledge of Candy Estimating Software or equivalent alternative.
