What will you do?

The Senior Cost Planner/Estimator shall be responsible for Cost Planning/Estimating the Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health and Vertical Transportation (MEP), working closely and directly with internal / external clients, other disciplines, and teams from project inception, accountable and responsible for all cost planning aspects of the projects.

Lead, guide and manage the respective estimating team on the project. Provide clear directions and define priorities for the team.

Work closely with the Project teams in developing cost planning and conversion strategies and ensuring these are appropriately resourced and managed to successful outcomes.

Responsible for all Cost Planning/Estimating and bids for internal and external clients from inception at feasibility stage and onwards and presentation at reviews and sign off in compliance with Lendlease governance processes.

To challenge the projects and design team to design efficiently within the cost plan, by continuing to analyse the design against the cost plan and benchmark projects.

Support the development of best practices / standards, knowledge base, sector expertise including industry trends, yardsticks, or benchmarks etc. Ensure knowledge sharing and skills transfer to train, develop, and upskill the wider cost planning/estimating team.

You will bring

Accountable for all financial inputs into the project cost plan/estimate.

Have experience of working on large scale, complex, multi-phase projects with an excellent knowledge of costing, pricing, prelims and benchmarking within the Construction and Development industries, with experience in the Office and Residential sectors. Public realm & infrastructure experience also desirable.

Responsible for setting and establishing the cost planning/estimating strategy and timeframes and assessing resource requirements for agreement and allocation by Management.

Able to accurately quantify and price cost plans/estimates from outline briefs through to contract price.

Familiar with standard methods of measurement and other industry/professional best practice and guidelines.

Must seek to understand the broader context and seek to bring design and build solutions that serve the wider Lendlease agenda.

Manage/coordinate stakeholder inputs into the cost planning/estimating process e.g. Project Management, Procurement, Design Management, Planning, Legal, Insurance, Construction and Commercial Management disciplines.

Engage with sub-contractors / suppliers.

In collaboration with the Commercial Managers, secure market prices for trade and prelim packages and analyse same against cost plan allowances. Ability to price on a Labour, Plant and Materials basis from first principles is desirable.
