Are you a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator looking for an exciting opportunity in the energy & power sectors? My client, a leading main contractor, is seeking a technically sound Senior Estimator to join their growing team. The Senior Estimator will be offered a role with extensive home working, but you will be required to travel to their office in the East Midlands, Scotland, or the North East 2-3 times a month.

About the Role: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the successful tendering of large-scale energy projects across the UK. This will include the construction of new substations, overhead lines, access roads, and much more. Working closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams, you will provide detailed and accurate cost estimates, ensuring competitiveness while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates for projects within the energy sector, ensuring all elements are covered from first principles. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and contracts to identify risks and opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams, including design, procurement, and delivery, to align estimates with project requirements. Lead tender submissions for projects valued at 50m and upwards, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather competitive pricing and manage relationships. Provide expert advice on value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends, material costs, and industry best practices. Strong understanding of the tendering processes for projects exceeding 50m. Proficiency in estimating software (Candy) and an advanced knowledge of Excel. Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
