We have a fantastic opportunity within our Energy Water business for an ambitious and talented Senior Estimator
Currently focussed on the Energy and Water sectors, our business is evolving to ensure that we remain a major player as the UK adapts to climate change and achieves carbon net zero.
About the role
Provide and manage an overall bid estimate which can be presented at distinct governance gateways (mid-bid and settlement)
Assess tender documentation, requirements and report findings to the team
Produce and deliver the estimate workbook showing bottom-up estimate, benchmark and supply chain comparisons leading to the completion of the client’s activity pricing schedule
Prepare and run bid workshops to capture staff, labour, plant and subcontract costs
Proactively work with the operational teams, supply chain and specialists to seek the optimal solution to differentiate the bid, including innovation, with respect to price positioning
Build effective relationships to establish two-way dialogue with customers and suppliers
Involvement in the adjudication process
Attend post tender negotiation with a view to taking the responsibilities
Review successful and unsuccessful submissions, feedback and lessons learnt to promote continuous improvement. Provide relevant feedback to Senior Management and other stakeholders as required. Striving for continual development of the precontract team.
About you
You will be an experienced Senior Estimator with more than 5 years’ experience with the following attributes:
Experience of Civils Infrastructure Water projects greater than £20m required
Experience of bidding and securing complex frameworks preferred
Experience of NEC 3 & 4 contract mechanisms and requirements with a strong commercial acumen
Degree qualified with an engineering discipline preferred
Undertake detailed pricing research as bid preparation
Ability to take-off quantities from tender documentation / drawings
An in-depth knowledge and management of supply chain engagement at preconstruction to support project estimates
In-depth knowledge of project programmes to underpin robust project estimates for supply chain packages, prelims and labour
The ability to engage with discipline leads / specialist matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders to develop a winning bid
Full working knowledge of estimating software

Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
High standard of written English
High standard of skills with Microsoft applications.
